Aleksandra, 21. I am currently attending university working towards a double major in History and Slavic Studies with a focus on Eastern Europe and the development of the former Eastern Bloc and a prospective International Studies Masters student -- but what I actually want to do with my life is beyond me.
In general, I drink way too much coffee, stay up way too late and what I do with the spare time I do have would probably baffle most people.

The remains of the Warsaw Ghetto in flames
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was the first instance in occupied Europe of an uprising by an urban population. On April 19, 1943, German troops and police entered the ghetto to deport its surviving inhabitants. The ghetto fighters were able to hold out for nearly a month, but on May 16, 1943, the revolt ended. The starved and humiliated Jews stood up against the Germans for a longer period than some independent countries in Europe.
